💎 Fun fact about the appearance

Those beautiful white “snowflakes” aren't actually snowflakes at all. ❄️

They are created by crystallized inclusions of the mineral cristobalite that formed within the volcanic glass as it cooled and changed over time.

The circular or flower-like patterns are called spherulites, and their contrast against the black obsidian gives Snowflake Obsidian its distinctive appearance.

Obsidian itself forms when lava cools so quickly that there isn't enough time for large mineral crystals to develop, resulting in a naturally smooth, glass-like volcanic material.
