Despite its name, Ocean Jasper isn't actually formed in the ocean today. It is a type of jasper found primarily along the northwestern coast of Madagascar, and some deposits are located in areas that are difficult to access except by boat.

The stone's patterns are created through complex geological processes involving mineral-rich fluids and silica, which formed the distinctive orb-like structures within the rock.
